Blog Post 8: Learning English in our times

Image
Firstly, the experience learning English at the University has been very positive and rewarding at the same time, since at the school, my learning process wasn't enough and I couldn't achieve the necessary skills. Most of the things I used to learn before going to the University were essentially self-taught. So, it has been a challenge for me to regain certain amount of knowledge as well as to be able to measure how much I know about English as a language.  Regarding the use of blogs, I believe it has been very interesting to read other people's opinions about various topics, having people commenting to your posts and replying back has been also very enriching. I also think that I have improved my writing skills, since in the last course, I didn't have the chance to practice them too much. One aspect of English that I need to improve, is the knowledge I have about grammar and the pronunciation of words. I think that an important change for me would be to travel abroad ...

Blog post 7: Changes to my study programme - Architecture

Image
Hello everyone! In this blog, I will be talking about what changes could be made to my study programme. Firstly, it's relevant to mention that I'm currently studying architecture, which similarly to design or geography, implies a constant mixture between theory and practice. The last ones being in many cases not totally productive since, most of the times, the hours taken to classes and study time are much more than the hours proposed in the first place. This issue has been more evident with the current online system. Requiring to be sited in our laptops the entire day and, as a consequence, limiting the performance that one could have in each subject and the necessary commitment to the contents.  In addition, an important aspect I think the University owes to the students, is the stance in regards to the technological changes in the use of computer programs. In this sense, each teacher has a different methodology, in which the use of programs is more or less required. This,...

Blog post 6: Time travel to future, endless possibilities

Image
Hello everyone! In this blog, I’m going to be talking about time travel to the future.  When thinking about the future, for most of us, it is uncertain. We don’t know what is going to happen to us in the next few minutes and we also don’t know when or where we are going to die. However, we have seen in sci-fi movies, TV series or books, how the future might look like or what could happen, and even scientists and innovators have already been thinking and creating new technological advances in order to make our lives easier and better.                                                                                                                                 ...

Blog post 5 - My Future Job

Image
Hello everyone! Welcome back to my blog. In this fifth post I would like to talk about my future job as an architect. When I picture myself in my future job, I imagine being in a nice working environment, meeting kind co-workers as well as being personally true to myself and what I love. As an architect, I would like to be part of sustainable and environmentally well-managed projects in which I could be able to design and plan buildings that could both contribute and transform the existing damage to our natural resources. Along with that, materials that are massively useful in order to find confortable and well-qualified living spaces. In that sense, I would prefer working outdoors since it would allow me to be more connected to the building itself, not only through the design but also in the creation process of bringing a building to life and serve its purpose. [ A project in Auckland that I would love to see in person! -  Under Pohutukawa / Herbst Architects ] Furthermore, ...

Blog 4 - The best kind of music!

Image
Hello everyone! Welcome back to my blog!   In this post, I would like to share with you about my fascination about music and what it means to me daily. To begin with, I have to say that music is everything to me, it represents the fuel for my entire mood and motivation to deal with all kinds of activities that I do in my daily routine. It can make me feel fully motivated, chilled, happy, focus, sad, nostalgic, which are just a few of the emotions that the music can generate on me. Regarding this topic, I have to talk about BSO music, which basically means  original soundtrack . It refers to the musical compositions made for audiovisual projects, such as videogames, series, animes, movies and so on and so forth, fulfilling a fundamental role in the setting and message that the work tries to convey to the audience. [Darth Vader, Storm Troopers Crash Stage as L.A. Philharmonic Honors John Williams] My experience with the BSO music begins with videogames. I have played p...

The PassivHaus

Image
Hello everyone! A pleasure to share with you some ideas again! In today's post I would like to write about a concept that it's related to architecture and represents a whole new perspective for me: The PassivHaus. First of all, the PassivHaus is a concept explored in the 80's, specifically in Germany, where the Ministry of environment promoted an investigation to find strategies to optimize the home's performances in terms of energy efficiency. In its evaluating role, the PassivHaus involves  different parameters in order to achieve between 70% and 80% of less energy intakes, reducing the use of active heating systems such as wood heaters , many of which depend on energy with high percentages of carbon emissions. The benefits of encouraging this approac...

The best concert ever: Linkin Park

Image
Hello everyone! It is a pleasure to share with you one of my most significant experiences so far. In this second topic of the blog, I want to tell you about my experience in the Linkin Park’s concert in 2017 at Movistar Arena and why this moment has been so precious to me. First of all, it is relevant to mention that Linkin Park is a band that made its first steps with alternative rock and then, little by little, they developed their style through Indie as well as electronic music, having the last one as a marked genre in their last albums, specially "One more Light". By that time, I did not know that not only this album would be their last but also they would perform their last concert here in Chile that same year (2017). This led to a series of events in which the vocalist, Chester Bennington, decided to put an end to his life, just after 4 months of this concert. So, sadly, when I heard the news, I was shocked.  At first, I must admit that I had my doubts about going...
